Nina-Marie Lister delivers a Public Lecture in the Series “Design for Diversity,” titled, “Design for Diversity” Betwixt Culture and Nature and the Wild Between” at the Syracuse University, School of Architecture.

On December 17th, Ecological Design Lab hosted a free, virtual discussion on Barriers, By-laws, and the Biophilic City: Advancing Natural Gardens and Native Plants in Our Cities!

The conversation was between Professor, Nina-Marie Lister, Author, Lorraine Johnson, external link, and Environmental Lawyer, David Donnelly, external link, about the ecological significance of promoting biodiversity through natural gardens in the City and the challenges faced by the current state weed and grass regulations. Two very special guest panellists, Author and Expert Gardener, Mark Cullen, external link, and Horticulture and Natural Environment Officer for the City of Toronto, Patricia Landry, external link, joined for a roundtable discussion and discussed overcoming the challenges and moving to a solution of incorporating a by-law that is supportive of the natural garden and native plants.
