The In it for the long-haul: Education and workforce development for wildlife friendly highways panel, moderated by Renee Callahan, spotlighted seven education and workforce development efforts to increase understanding of the issues of habitat fragmentation by roads and the safety implications of wildlife-vehicle collisions for wildlife populations and motorists. Spanning from K-12 curriculum development efforts to bring landscape connectivity and wildlife crossings into the classroom to training for professionals to better incorporate connectivity into transportation projects.
CoLabs delivered as part of the Safe Passages partnership were presented as a method of advancing the transfer of knowledge from research to practice by bringing together academics, community leaders, and professionals across agencies.
